All about the new book - The Story of Brockville

A well maintained archive is essential in any community museum.

The Brockville Museum is fortunate to have dedicated volunteer archivists that undertake cataloguing and maintaining the museum’s paper based, photographic and multi media collection. The archives include certificates, maps, photographs, books, ledgers, diaries and letters along with land records, tapes, videos, DVDs and films.

Several projects have been completed which all contribute to good archival practices as well as making the collection accessible to researchers, education and exhibit committee, authors and playwriters.

One such project is the scanning and preserving of a large collection of Advertising and Calling Cards and some very interesting glass slides.

Another project which began in 2007 is the digitization of the museum collection. This project was made possible through a grant from the 1000 Islands Development Corporation, volunteer archivists and curator and the MIS department of the City of Brockville.

The museum archives are open to the public by appointment.
