Few people are aware of the existence of a railway tunnel under
the City of Brockville. Even fewer know that the 1854 tunnel is
the oldest in Canada.
The Tunnel faces the waterfront just a few short blocks east
of the Museum at the corner of Water Street and Market West, directly
south of the picturesque Victoria Hall.
A wonderful example of early stonework and engineering, the
Tunnel is now open to the public during the warmer months and
features displays of archival photographs. A railway caboose is
permanently on display in the adjacent park.
