Wednesday April 13, 7:00 - 8:30 pm - ‘The Result of Rebellion:  North American Political Prisoners in Van Diemen's Land' 

In the aftermath of the 1838 Upper Canadian Rebellion/Patriot War almost 100 "rebels" were transported to Van Diemen's Land as political prisoners. Their crimes were a result of their role in a number of armed incursions from United States into Upper Canada that took place along the St. Lawrence River. based upon 35 years of extensive research, Dr. John Carter  will speak about their lives in this far away penal colony.
